O Silhouette foi um dos die-cast lançados na série Hot Wheels de 1968, também conhecida como "The Sweet Sixteen". Apesar de seu design elegante e futurista dos anos 1960, ele é considerado o carro Hot Wheels menos valioso devido ao fato do seu grande volume de produção. Projetado por Harry Bradley, foi baseado em um "show car" construído por Bill Cushenberry em 1962. O modelo orioginal foi construido em cima da caarroceria de um Buick 1956. O original de Cushenberry foi comprado pela Ford Motor Company em 1963 e incluído em seu road show "Ford Custom Caravan". Infelizmente o carro de Cushenberry foi roubado em 1983 e nunca mais foi encontrado; apenas a cobertura em forma de bolha e outras peças mecânicas foram localizadas, mas o paradeiro do resto do carro permanece um mistério.
Os modelos Hot Wheels produzidos nos EUA têm vidro transparente, rodas prateadas, interior de uma peça e tubos laterais mais curtos e grossos. As versões fabricadas em Hong Kong têm vidro fumê azul, rodas de folha cromada, um interior de duas peças com um volante preso no painel, tubos laterais mais longos, mas mais finos, e quatro orifícios quadrados de colocação no chassi.
No ano de 1968 foram produzidos 17 variantes de cores e modelos nas versões fabricadas nos EUA e 5 variações nas versões produzidas em Hong Kong. Em 1993 o "Silhouette" foi relançado com modelos fabricados na China, somando mais 11 versões (até 2018)
Um novo conjunto de ferramentas foi criada para o "Silhouete" no relançamento do die-cast no 25º aniversário da Hot Wheels em 1993.

Silhouette was one of the die-casts released in the 1968 Hot Wheels series, also known as "The Sweet Sixteen". Despite its sleek, futuristic 1960s design, it is considered the least valuable Hot Wheels car due to its large production volume. Designed by Harry Bradley, it was based on a "show car" built by Bill Cushenberry in 1962. The original model was built on the body of a 1956 Buick. The original Cushenberry was purchased by the Ford Motor Company in 1963 and included in their car. road show "Ford Custom Caravan". Unfortunately Cushenberry's car was stolen in 1983 and was never found again; only the bubble-shaped cover and other mechanical parts were refinement, but the whereabouts of the rest of the car moved a mystery. Hot Wheels models available in the US have clear glass, silver wheels, one-piece interior and shorter, thicker side tubes. The Hong Kong-made versions feature blue smoked glass, chrome-plated wheels, a two-piece interior with a steering wheel attached to the dashboard, longer but thinner side tubes, and four square mounting holes in the chassis. In 1968, 17 variants of cores and models were obtained in the versions manufactured in the USA and 5 variations in the versions produced in Hong Kong. In 1993 the "Silhouette" was relaunched with models made in China, adding 11 more versions (until 2018). A new set of tools was created for "Silhouete" in the re-release of the die-cast on the 25th anniversary of Hot Wheels in 1993.
