O Hot Wheels "Custom Cougar" foi projetado por Harry Bradley e baseado no Mercury Cougar de 1967. Ele estreou na série original "1968 Sweet Sixteen”. Todas as versões do carro tinham carroceria e chassi fundido, rodas Redline (RL), suspensão com eixo rígido e pintura Spectraflame. 

Cougars com tetos pintados de pretos para simular um teto de vinil foram fabricados apenas nos modelos produzidos em Hong Kong.

O Die-Cast da imagem se refere ao rarissimo modelo "Custom Cougar SPFL Purple w/RL 6205" - fabricado em Hong Kong da série "Sweet Sixteen" de 1968.

Na avaliação pela "North Carolina Hot Wheels Association" o modelo descrito acima, em bom estado pode chegar a U$3.400,00
